$10k in Revenue From a Website That Works (Even When She’s Not Blogging)

The Problem

Melissa Boufounos had already done the hard work of building a reputation. As a Certified Holistic Nutritionist specializing in hockey performance nutrition, she was the go-to resource in her niche — known for high standards, straight-talk, and real results for athletes.

But her website? She’d built it herself back in 2015, and while it had served her well, it had started to show its age. The layout felt dated, the design no longer reflected where her brand had gone, and she didn’t have the time or desire to figure out how to fix it herself.

In her words:

“I wanted a professional refresh so that it wouldn’t look like I designed the website myself.”

Beyond aesthetics, there was a bigger opportunity sitting untapped. Melissa had strong offers: 1:1 coaching, team workshops, brand spokesperson work, and her Hockey Nutrition Playbook, but the site wasn’t structured to guide visitors toward any of them. And from an SEO standpoint, there was significant room to grow.

What We Set Out to Do

Melissa was already on WordPress, so we kept the platform and rebuilt on a Flywheel staging environment so we could work without disrupting her live site. The goals were clear:

  • Position her as an industry leader, not just a practitionerowth.
  • Modernize the design so it looked as authoritative as she actually is
  • Clarify and structure her offers so every page led somewhere intentional
  • Build a real SEO foundation — long-form copy, optimized service pages, technical updates — that would bring in cold traffic over time

(Spoiler, it worked.)

The Approach

Copy That Converts Cold Traffic: Every core page was written to 700+ words — not to hit a word count, but to give both Google and first-time visitors enough context to trust Melissa and take action. This was especially important given that a major goal was attracting people who had never heard of her before landing on the site.

No popups. No distractions. Just clear, benefit-driven copy that moves people through the site naturally.

Three Offers, Three Clear Paths: Melissa’s homepage now clearly spotlights her three key offers — workshops, brand spokesperson work, and the Hockey Nutrition Playbook — each with its own benefit-forward description and a specific CTA. Visitors know immediately what she does, who it’s for, and how to take the next step.

Dedicated Service Pages Built to Rank: Each offer got its own page with an optimized URL, strong headline, and copy written around the terms her ideal clients are actually searching. Instead of one crowded services page, each offer is now its own destination — easier to find in search, easier to convert on.

Authority Front and Center: Melissa’s media presence and brand partnerships were already impressive, but her old site barely showcased them. We built out dedicated pages for her brand spokesperson work and press features, with past media appearances, brand callouts, and embedded Instagram content. Her site now positions her as a recognized leader in sports nutrition — not just someone who offers coaching.

The Results

Melissa had great offers and a loyal audience before we started. What she didn’t have was a website that worked for her when she wasn’t actively promoting. That changed.

In March 2025, about a year after the redesign, Melissa messaged me with an update:

“Just had to share, it’s been a year since my website overhaul and the SEO is really working now. In the past few months, I’ve had a lot of client and team work come in from people who have never followed me on social, aren’t on my email list etc. People all across Canada reaching out to hire me. I just got a $6,000 contract with a league out in British Columbia (I am in Ontario). Last week someone bought my course out of the blue who isn’t on my email or social lists. It’s been about $10k of revenue just from the website alone since Jan. And I still haven’t even started actively blogging lol”

And it kept going, in February 2026:

“Another day my SEO worked. Team workshop inquiry on my website for a whole organization and then the same person went and bought my hockey nutrition blueprint. My goal was at least one sale this month and it’s only the first week. Woohoo. The only people buying are ‘cold’ people that find me via SEO lol”

And in March 2026, on the brand partnership side:

“So random, but this week, TWO brands have found my website and filled out the brand spokesperson form. That’s the first time. And it happened TWICE. Sooo things are definitely going well with SEO.”

What This Means for Your Business

Melissa’s results are a good illustration of what SEO-forward web design actually does: it turns your website into a lead generation tool that works even when you’re not actively marketing.

She wasn’t blogging. She wasn’t running ads. She was coaching clients and running her business, and her website was doing the work of bringing in new ones.

If your website isn’t doing that for you, let’s change it.
